Emergency Services Day At Longton Park, Sunday 16th July 2017

The Donna Louise is again hosting its action-packed Emergency Services Day, with loads of fun for all of the family, at Longton Park on Sunday 16th July, from 11am until 4pm.

Originally the brainchild of PCSOs Keith Mellor and Rachel Mountford in 2014, the event has since attracted an unprecedented amount of community interest, with thousands of people attending the event in the last three years.

This year’s event, sponsored by Stoke VW will include lots of demonstrations and activities from the emergency services, plus more than 30 stalls selling everything from Caribbean food and beauty products to locally produced artwork. All proceeds from the day will be donated to The Donna Louise.

Challenge Event Manager at the Donna Louise, Nikki Wrench, said, “We’re so excited to be doing this event again this year – this will be our fourth Emergency Services Day. Over the last few years the event has grown and grown to become the biggest community event in the Potteries.

“We’ll once again be offering a park and ride facility from the South Car Park on Stanley Matthews Way, so families can park at the stadium and catch a free bus to Longton Park and back again, courtesy of First Buses.”

The committee responsible for planning the day includes fundraisers from The Donna Louise as well as employees of the Fire Service, ROSPA, Staffordshire Police, the Armed Forces, Stoke on Trent City Council, Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes and Staffs Search and Rescue who will all be doing demonstrations on the day.

Nikki added, “It’s always great to see the residents of Staffordshire learning more about their local services, including The Donna Louise. It’s a great opportunity for us all to educate the public about what we do whilst having lots of fun at the same time! We can’t wait to see everyone at Longton Park on 16th July!”
