Douglas Macmillan Hospice is holding its annual community led fundraising campaign; ‘Bring a pound day’ on October 9, where each pound collected by local companies will go towards caring for patients and effected family members.
The Bring a Pound Day entails four main events to help raise money for the Stoke-on-Trent based hospice. Signal Radio and number of local businesses are supporting the event in a number of ways, including Purple Sprout PR and Marketing who has chosen Douglas Macmillan as their charity of the year, 2015.

24 Hour Stay Awake
Craig Rushton Managing Director of Purple Sprout PR and Marketing is leading a team of local businesses on a 24 Hour Stay Awake to represent that the Hospice runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The team will be taking on various challenges throughout the Stay Awake, visiting local businesses on day and night shift, whilst also spending time volunteering at the Trentham based Hospice. ‘Text your £1 donation and Solidor will 2’
This year when you text POUND to 70660* your £1 donation will actually be worth £2! Solidor have agreed to match-fund any donations generated by the unique text code, up to the value of £2,000.

The Dougie Mac is asking the public to encourage as many people as possible to support the Bring a Pound Day. Local people are on hand to nominate their friends, families, colleagues and local businesses to take part in the day. The hospice is making it even easier this year by taking nominations through Facebook, using the hashtag #PassthePound.
